Where did I get it? The local library

Synopsis: My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

My Thoughts:

I picked up this book a while ago, but only just got around to reading it. Following the story of a girl named Madeline we see her explore the world around her with the help of the boy-next-door: Olly.

I loved the characters. My favourite was Carla, Madeline’s nurse who is like a second mother to her. Carla is there for  Madeline whenever she needs support and her advice was usually spot on.

This book consisted off  a variety of images and writing which was cleverly put together. The front cover, too, is beautiful and really suits the book.

The shocking twist at the end was one that I did not see coming but I was happy with the ending.

A quick, contemporary read that touches your heart.
