Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
Where did I get it? The local library
Synopsis: An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family.
Finding Audrey was an exceptional read that had me laughing out loud right from the start.
This book is written with sensitivity but is at the same time a humorous read. I loved the video diaries that she kept- they were my favourite aspect of the book-as well as Audrey’s family.
Linus, too, was a sweet character, who played a big part throughout the course of this novel in helping audrey break through the walls she had put up.
The relationship that Audrey and her brother shares is one I wish for every sibling. The scene towards the end had me gasping at the absurdity of it all and I think, that Frank, (Audrey’s brother) handled it very maturely.
I would recommend this book to every-one. A must read.
